DESCRIPTION

"Russia Reports" was a radio service provided to the Jewish community by the American Jewish Committee (AJC). The broadcasts consisted of interviews with academics, journalists, travelers to Russia, or community figures. The AJC assumed the role of spreading knowledge in America about Soviet Jews through all means at its disposal. Its Foreign Affairs Department had the task of assembling a growing cache of data and agreed to establish "Russia Reports" as a prime communications tool. The Director of European Affair, Jerry Goodman, interviewed guests or broadcast straight news. Posting these on radio stations fell to local Jewish federations and AJC chapters. This is part of Jerry Goodman's collection, National Conference on Soviet Jewry Records, at the American Jewish Historical Society
